Welcome!
I believe we all have unique strengths that can help us navigate life’s challenges. Seeking out support through counseling is one way to re-discover and to cultivate those strengths. I am lucky enough to work with children, adolescents, young adults, and their parents to assist them through life’s ups and downs. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and I utilize a multicultural approach when working with clients. I welcome you to come as you are— I will meet you wherever you are at.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern under the supervision of Kirby Schroeder, LPC-S, LMFT-S. My dog, Rio, and I form a Canine Counseling Intern Team supervised by Elizabeth Hartwig, PhD, LPC-S, LMFT, RPT-S.

I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Educational Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin. I then earned a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. Additionally, I am a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator. Most recently, Rio and I have graduated from the Animal-Assisted Counseling Academy at Texas State University. Click here to learn more about this program and our certification.

Rio and I are certified in animal-assisted counseling (AAC). AAC is a goal-directed process in which a trained therapy animal works in partnership with a counselor to help clients resolve psychosocial challenges and achieve growth. AAC often involves using experiential and expressive interventions that include the therapy animal. Rio and I work together as a team to help clients of all ages grow and achieve their goals.

When Rio and I are not at Austin Family Counseling, we enjoy hiking the greenbelt, splashing around in Barton Springs, and playing fetch at Zilker Park. You can follow Rio’s adventures in counseling by following his instagram: @riok9counselor

If you or your child is interested in animal-assisted counseling, I would be happy to discuss its potential benefits with you. You can learn more about AAC here. I welcome any questions or concerns, and I look forward to working with you soon!
