Michelle Beyer, LPC
Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator
Michelle Beyer is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern, practicing under the supervision of Karen Burke, LPC-S, RPT-S. She is certified in Positive Discipline and Child Parent Relationship Therapy and received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin (hook’em!), and her Master’s in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. She has had extensive play therapy training and has worked with children in a variety of settings. Additionally, she is certified in Positive Discipline, a parenting coaching model.
Being a kid is hard enough, but when a child is experiencing a mental health disorder, they need all the extra support they can get. Michelle’s therapeutic passions include helping every child unlock their full potential and utilizing all their strengths, no matter what specific issues are going on. Through play therapy, children feel heard and understood in ways that they might not be getting in everyday interactions.
Michelle also enjoys helping parents who are searching to find the best way to buildup their child. She works closely with parents to provide the resources necessary to manage children’s behavior. She also works to create close and lasting bonds between parent and child. Understanding and empathy are at the core of therapy with Michelle, whether the client is a child or an adult. She sees every person as a unique and exceptional person, with their own remarkable strengths.
Haven’t seen Michelle around the office yet? That probably means she’s out on the local hiking trails with her husband…or drinking tea and snuggling with her cat.
